Year 2088, Armenia.
The facade of Democracy could no longer veil the decades of political chaos that wore it thin. In 2031, it tore, giving way to a new form of government that will be known as Ordocracy – or Rule by the Order, the supreme law of the nation – stewarded by the elusive House of Keepers of the Order.
Fifty years on, no one can clearly define what the House is or what it does. No one knows anyone who has been inside. And no one really cares. Except for professor of Armenian political thought Karine Bakunts, who has longed for an invitation for most of her academic career. When it arrives as an anonymous phone call, she accepts.
Escorted by a cryptic host, Karine is led from room to room to uncover the closely guarded secrets of this institution. Yet the deeper she goes, the more she must confront the question she has been avoiding: what does the House know about her that she herself doesn’t?
